Lead a team across three organizations to develop and operationalize the Green Bank Design Platform. The Platform’s mission is to assist countries and other jurisdictions to access the financial and technical resources they need to adapt the green bank model to their unique circumstances.The Platform, which is currently being incubated by RMI, NRDC, and the Green Finance Institute, will help countries seeking to set up green banks by guiding them through the phases of green bank development and building buy-in from domestic stakeholders, matching them with technical expertise and funding, identifying and securing sources of capitalization, and connecting them with green bank experts to learn and share best practices.

I lead RMI’s initiative on green banks. My work focuses on supporting countries, mostly in emerging markets, to establish financial institutions dedicated to increasing the volume and efficacy of investments flowing to climate solutions, while also building financial capacity in low-carbon markets. My team designed and runs the Green Bank Design Platform to enable countries’ efforts to set up green banks. I lead partnerships with other organizations in the green bank arena, multilateral development banks, bilateral funding institutions, climate funds, philanthropy and private financial institutions. My work work is at the forefront of understanding how public and private finance can work together to address the investment needs required to achieve climate goals. Highlights include: convened the largest international event RMI has ever hosted, which brought together representatives from over 25 countries in Paris for the Green Bank Design Summit; held green bank workshops and high-level events in five countries; manages relationships with over 30 countries interested in setting up green banks.

Manager, Green Investment Bank Initiative

At the Rocky Mountain Institute I lead the Green Investment Bank Initiative to help establish green banks in emerging economies to 1) make the climate finance infrastructure more efficient and 2) enable emerging markets to successfully achieve their commitments under the Paris climate agreement. The goal of this work is to scale up capital being allocated toward low-carbon investments and to ensure it is being directed toward projects that have the most impact.

As an environment fellow for the Foundation I focus on both climate and energy policy as well as conservation in the western US and Mexico. In the climate and energy arena I developed the Foundation’s climate finance strategy and conduct grantmaking aimed at ensuring international capital flows align with a two degree pathway, including reducing barriers for investment in clean energy. My work on western conservation focuses on managing grants to organizations that safeguard desert rivers. I also oversee a portfolio of grants in the San Francisco Bay Area centered around ensuring disadvantaged communities have access to transportation and are not disproportionately impacted by climate change. I manage over $8 million in grants.

At the National Park Service I worked on landscape scale policy and conservation. I undertook efforts to identify ways NPS could engage with landowners outside park units to ensure resources NPS works to protect persist beyond park boundaries. Specifically I investigated how energy siting in the California desert would impact Park units.
