Founding director of Drawdown Labs, Project Drawdown’s private sector testing ground for accelerating the scaling of climate solutions quickly, safely, and equitably. Director, Drawdown Labs

Jamie Alexander leads Ceres' work on the west coast to mobilize the private sector to align with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and limit global temperature rise to no more than 1.5ºC. In this role, she implements strategies that move companies to set ambitious emissions reductions targets, and to leverage their influence in support of strong climate, clean energy and clean transportation policies. Prior to Ceres, Jamie served as a Civil and Foreign Service Officer with USAID during the Obama administration and led an agency-wide reform effort to integrate local capacity into foreign aid programming.

Corporate Partnerships

Supported the organization in launching the Mino-Niibi Fund, which supports Indigenous-led organizations in the Americas and the Pacific working to revitalize their own cultures, traditions, lands and livelihoods. These funds support work to document and protect Indigenous knowledge, revitalize threatened languages, protect Native foodways and seed sovereignty, conduct youth-elder cultural exchanges, and empower Indigenous women.

Advise agency leadership on increased and more effective partnerships with local organizations and local knowledge holders, and advocate for the integration of locally-driven and sustainable practices into USG development programming.  Develop new tools and methods for integrating local capacity development into Agency procurement mechanisms to ensure that partnerships with local organizations and businesses are increasingly sought,  locally driven, and sustainable. Designed and led local capacity development training for US and overseas missions. Traveled extensively to train USAID missions, including in Bangladesh, Kenya, Senegal, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Peru and South Africa.

Local Partnerships Advisor

Warranted Contracting and Grants Officer with signing authority for up to $10 million for contracts and grants, specializing in responsible and sustainable procurement for the Agency's environmental and global health projects. Served as Supervisory Contracting Officer for extended periods in USAID/Bangladesh, USAID/India and USAID/Tanzania. Conducted organizational, financial and environment assessments of contractors and made final determination for award.
