Guillaume Laforge

Guillaume Laforge is a seasoned Developer Advocate at Google Cloud Platform, where he champions the wealth of services available for cloud-based projects and businesses. Prior to his tenure at Google, he spearheaded Product Leadership at Restlet, overseeing the APISpark API management platform, Restlet Studio, and Restlet Framework. Guillaume also founded and directed the Developer Advocacy team, interacting with developers utilizing these tools.

Since 2003, Guillaume has been deeply engaged in the Groovy programming language project, assuming a leadership role from around 2004 onwards. His journey with Groovy has seen him contributing under various umbrellas such as G2One, SpringSource, VMware, and the Pivotal spin-off. Notably, Guillaume played a pivotal role in establishing the Grails web application framework and founding the Gaelyk project for Groovy applications on Google App Engine.

In recognition of his expertise, Guillaume was honored as a Java Champion in 2017. He is a sought-after speaker at major conferences like JavaOne, GR8Conf, SpringOne2GX, QCon, and Devoxx, where he sheds light on Groovy, Grails, Gaelyk, and Domain-Specific Languages. Furthermore, Guillaume co-authored the renowned book 'Groovy in Action' with esteemed Groovy contributors Dierk König and Paul King.

Before his successful venture with G2One, which later merged with SpringSource, where he assumed the role of VP Technology, Guillaume honed his skills at OCTO Technology, a consultancy specializing in architecture and agile methodologies. During his time at OCTO, he developed innovative solutions centered around Groovy and Grails for the clients.

Guillaume Laforge is also a founding member of the popular French Java/OSS/IT podcast, LesCastCodeurs. His expertise spans across a wide array of domains including Apache Groovy, Java, Grails web framework, Web APIs, Google Cloud Platform, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript, among others.
