He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Natural Resources and Environmental Economics from the University of Queensland and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New England (AU) and attended Anglican Church Grammar School.

Prior to joining Lightsource BP, Pegg served as Head of Business Development - Renewables at APA Group, Manager Corporate Development, Manager Project Development at AGL Energy, Commercial and Finance Manager at a start-up, and an Analyst at various organizations.
