-  Managed prototypes and testing of IoT bike share“ Smart Lock” technology including iOS/Android App, industrial design/manufacturing, electrical board design/manufacturing, firmware development and User Experience.

- Managed day-to-day operations of the 3 campus pilot including KPIs of 0% shrink of bike fleet and 96% participant satisfaction. Managed cross-organizational collaboration between Washington County, Portland State University, Nike and Intel.

- Performed extensive competetive and industry analysis to inform product market fit, product roadmap generation, channel distribution strategy and business model ideation. Consulted on corporate bike share programs with Nike, Mozilla, Facebook and the cities of Portland and Hillsboro.

- Drafted research study, recruited participants, conducted ethnographic interviews, identified user behavioral patterns, synthesized study results and presented findings to Intel executive leadership. When your iPhone or iPad has an issue, you don't know your password, never use your computer and have a meeting in an hour, you make a genius bar appointment. When you arrive at the Apple Store, you can't believe your eyes: it's packed. You make your way through the store, like a Mom looking for the final Tickle Me Elmo doll, tension in hands, stress on your mind and then, you suddenly feel comfortable, re-assured. A mobile device technician at the Genius bar has your device in hand, is asking you the appropriate questions, but never making you feel like anything less than the professional you are. After a few minutes, they approach you, the issue has been fixed and you are on your way to your next meeting with a working phone and feeling informed about why it was not working earlier.

As a Mobile Technician at the Apple Store, this story is often repeated hundreds of times a day. At first glance it may appear to be simply retail, but look a little further and you will realize that this is a position that requires: Technical Knowledge, Problem Solving, Customer Relations, Teamwork, Patience, Quick Thinking and much much more.

Product Specialist are trained on how to welcome you to the store with a warm hello, probe politely to uncover your technology needs, handle a myriad of questions simultaneously, problem solve and trouble shoot and get potential customers into the perfect solution. Getting customers into the perfect solution requires the ability to understand the customers needs, wants and desires and to understand the ever-changing world of technology in order to create that perfect match.

As a Product Specialist, I led the iPhone 3G, 3GS and original iPad launches. I learned how to be an excellent teammate and how to be an awesome guide. I outfitted thousands of people with the perfect solution and almost always had them leaving with a smile. At first glance it may appear to be simply retail but look a little further and you will find that being a Product Specialist at an Apple Store requires: Understanding, Patience, Technical Knowledge, Product Knowledge, Teamwork and much much more.

While short in time, working for the Obama Campaign in the Spring of 2008 was one of the most valuable experiences of my life. We started out with a skeleton crew and built up our daily staff through volunteer recruitment, training and coordination. In order to ensure our volunteers where being used efficiently, but also gaining intrinsic satisfaction, I devised a data collection form that, in addition to name and e-mail, brought in information about the volunteers professional skills, hobbies, previous campaign experience, schedule and more. This form of data collection was a pre-cursor to the Big Data revolution we are currently seeing and a lot of help in building up the right volunteer campaign staff.

As the Project Coordinator I worked with scheduling, recruitment, merchandise sales, canvassing logistics, strategy and lifted a lot of heavy things. The job didn't pay much, was a lot of long hours and took a mental and physical toll, but was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

On paper, I only worked with At&t Mobility for 1 year, 10 months. In terms of life experience though, it altered me to my core. I started working at At&t at a mall kiosk, after roughly 6 months of leading in sales, I was recruited to move to one of the Corporate Stores. From there, I led the store in sales for month in a row, ultimately being named as one of the Top 10 Sales Consultants in the Western Region.

At the time, I thought being the top sales professional was the best thing I walked away from this experience with, but in hindsight it was so much more. When I started in 2006, very few people had (what we call today) smartphones. I remember being so excited the first time I went online with a top-of-the-line Blackberry. Over the next 2 years, I helped countless individuals come to the realization that smart phones were the next wave of communication. To be able to someone with no interest in connecting to the web with their phone and explain to them how they it would benefit there life, allowed me to gain an understanding of how the "everyday man" uses mobile technology better than most.

After really helping to lead the smart phone revolution in the Eugene market, I was put in charge of coordinating with Apple for the first iPhone Launch. I still remember the lines, the metal door over the supply closet that was turned into an iPhone holding pin, the excitement as I first got my hands on the device, but perhaps the best memory was that of the first elderly lady who waltzed into our store, looking for a flip phone, but leaving with an iPhone. She came in almost allergic to technology, but after showing how the iPhone could connect her to the other aspects of her life, she basically leaped across the table to give me a hug. It was at this moment that I knew, we'd never connect with our phones the same way again.
