Part of the management group overseeing the direction of Bristol Women's Voice, a charity aiming to make equality in Bristol a reality. In this role I was responsible for:

-  Overseeing the strategic direction of Bristol Women's Voice
-  Representing the interests of women in Bristol
-  Responding to local issues and public policy
-  Influencing local authorities
-  Financial Planning and Forecasting
-  Networking and building relationships

Management

The Direction and Oversight Board is a high level think tank on sustainability and social responsibility for the NUS. The committee advises the NUS on new thinking on environmental work in the student movement. My role was to:

-  Promote an inspiring long term vision for environment and sustainability to shape the work does as well as the wider student movement
-  Develop challenging and effective strategies to deliver the vision
-  Identify and react to strategic barriers and opportunities in the short, medium and long term
-  React to policy
-  Identify and develop influential strategic partnerships
-  Scrutinise the effectiveness of the implementation of the strategy
-  Ensure that current and planned sustainability projects are effective methods of delivering our vision

National Union of Students (UK)

Student Officer- Sustainability Direction and Oversight Board

One of five full time elected officers at UWE Students' Union, a membership led, not for profit organisation that aims to make a different to students' lives at the university. In this role I was:

- A trustee and director of the charity arm of the organisation
- The director of the commercial arm of the organisation
- Responsible for forecasting and setting the budget for the organisation
- Responsible for setting the strategic aims and values of the organisation and overseeing their implementation with a particular focus on student opportunities and sustainability.
- Leading change in the organisation through decision making, project management, research, change initiatives and relationship building.

This was a challenging role in which I took on and balanced varying tasks and has given me experience in public speaking, events, policy making and implementing, training volunteers and budget management.

Vice President Societies and Communications

Delivering high quality customer service in a busy music venue, working club nights and gigs. Serving alcohol, up selling on particular products when required. Operating till and handling cash. Cleaning and maintaining the bar and venue to a high standard.

Venue Assistant

- Leading and motivating a small team of bar staff on shifts
- Ensuring the service and cleanliness standards of the venue are met
- Upholding health and safety, food hygiene standards and licensing laws
- Managing the kitchen, cooking and serving food in an incredibly fast-paced environment
- Cashing up, closing down and opening up the venue
- Delivering friendly and fast service in a busy and fast paced environment

Bar Supervisor

PAL is the Peer Assisted Learning Scheme at UWE. As one of the first PAL leaders for my course (English undergraduate) I was responsible for:
- Offering peer to peer support and facilitating the learning for students on my course
- Engaging students with the first year of the scheme on the English course.
- Planning, conducting and evaluating weekly sessions for a group of ten students
- Facilitating group learning and discussion
- Giving advice and guidance on aspects of their academic work such as referencing, note-taking, time management, critical reading and writing assignments.
- Regularly communicating with the group via email and social media
- Developing techniques to engage the students positively in the sessions to ensure regular and meaningful attendance.

PAL  Leader

Provided customer service on the bar and in the venue, serving alcohol, operating tills and handling cash. Also worked in the kitchen, preparing food and maintaining food hygiene standards.
