Associazione Pimby - Please in my backyard (<a href="http://www.pimby.eu">www.pimby.eu</a>) aims to promote dialogue between local administrations and their stakeholders, focusing on investments in infrastructures’ decision-making processes. Pimby organises an award for local communities that have been able to promote and realize investments in infrastructures, combining them with environmental care and stakeholder engagement.
In this context I've been involved in the start-up of the Association, in the composition of the Scientific Committee and other bodies connected with the Association, and in the organisation of the 2007 and 2008 Pimby award. This activity also included the promotion of a “manifesto” calling for the introduction of a specific law regulating stakeholder engagement in the investing in strategic infrastructures' decision making process (following the example of the French “Debat Public”).
My counterparts were the Communication and Public Affair Offices of some of the most important corporations investing in energy and transport infrastructures in the Italian context  (Enel, Terna, Eni, Autostrade, and Ferrovie dello Stato were sponsors of the initiative) as well as elected officials and regulators. The award was officially supported by the Ministry of Economic Development.
The Association was founded, among others, by Chicco Testa (past president of Enel) and Patrizia Ravaioli (general director of Cri, Croce Rossa Italiana).

Associazione PIMBY (Please In My Back Yard)

Sinapsi is an association that wants to foster sustainability and participation within public administration. Acting as a not-for-profit organisation, we worked on ad hoc projects when there was a possibility to bring forward these values. The most important project we managed is a participatory process in Sangimignano (Siena), which started as part of a framework agreement between the Municipality and the University of Florence. The overall aim was to create a local social label based on a set of values identified through a participatory process. The social label was meant to promote those local SMEs that agreed to implement it, taking part in a “sustainability lab” organised and facilitated by the Municipality.

My main task was to follow all the activities connected with the “OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance” including some background research for an expert review in Croatia and the organisation of international seminars. During my internship, I also helped to organise most of the capacity-building seminars held at the Trento Centre (e.g. Reviewing OECD Experience in the Social Enterprise Sector and Building Development Strategies for Cities and Regions).

Openup Consulting (<a href="http://www.openupconsulting.it">www.openupconsulting.it</a>) is a small consulting and lobbying firm. During my internship there, I researched and contributed to various city marketing tools (for cities such as Pisa, Florence and Ischia), I assisted with the organisation of the Wine & Fashion Florence 2005 edition (a promotional event aimed at highlighting two of the major Tuscan assets), and I worked on the publication “Professione lobbyista”, presented at the seminar “Who is afraid of lobbying?” organized in partnership with the Retionline Group.
