I provided data modeling and data warehousing architecture consulting on an Oracle BI (OBIEE 11g) project for our client MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Houston Medical Center. I investigated the current state of the data models, documented them, and made recommendations for changes to improve the overall reporting architecture to meet the needs of the institution. I assisted in re-engineering the star schema behind a new analytic dashboard. I used Oracle's SQL Developer Data Modeler (SDDM) for reverse engineering existing models and for building prototype data vault and star schema models and for building, documenting, and generating the analytic dashboard star schema. Also worked with Talend Data Profiler to analyze existing data sets. I provided mentoring for the data modeling staff on data warehouse design, dimensional and data vault modeling, standards development, and the use of Oracle's SQL Developer and SQL Developer Data Modeler tools.

As CTO, I was responsible for implementing best practices and standards to improve our ability to provide world class IT services, including mentoring IT staff in requirements gathering and data collection. I also helped communicate our value-add to target client base and assisted in identifying client needs for IT and data related services. My main task was to develop and communicate the pan-HP PLM 360 degree product master data model, including significant collaboration with the business. This included development and execution of several detailed webinars explaining the model. I worked with the PMO and the design and development team to begin the development of the tactical implementations of the information architecture working closely with business partners to understand their business goals and product data needs.  I developed conceptual data models and worked closely with the business product master data management team to set policies and data standards. In collaboration with the business sponsors, I was responsible for developing and executing a new data architecture review process for all HP IT projects requiring product master data.

As part of the EDW Supply Chain team, I was responsible for end to end project delivery including guiding data architecture, developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models, executing data analysis, and interpretation of business requirements to further develop HP's Enterprise Data Warehouse. I led the first successful effort to migrate a business critical supply chain data mart into the EDW. I reviewed and approved proposed architectural changes, master data issues, data models and code, kept the team updated on project priorities, and provided interpretation on requirements. I worked as a team lead and lead defect analyst for the validation of EDW data loads. Previously I was the technical team lead for the on boarding of Sales and Marketing data into EDW. I have written two papers on EDW processes and did a poster presentation at the first annual HP Database Day.

Kent was responsible for supervising a staff of data modelers, ETL programmers and Oracle DBAs. He was the chief architect for the District’s data warehouse effort which was designed using the Corporate Information Factory architecture. The system was developed using Oracle 9i/10g, Oracle Warehouse Builder, Oracle Discoverer, and Oracle AS 10g on HP-UX and Redhat Linux. He was responsible for the data modeling (ODS, data vault, and data marts), ETL architecture and direction, and oversight of the business intelligence efforts. Additional responsibilities include overseeing and providing quality assurance and project management, contract management, as well as preparing reviews, and career development for the staff.
