Kamal Sinclair
Kamal Sinclair is a multifaceted professional with a wealth of experience in the intersection of art, media, culture, and technology. With a background in theater, she started her career as a cast member of the Off-Broadway hit STOMP. She studied theater at New York University and received an MBA in International Business and Entrepreneurship from Georgia State University. Her career took a new direction with her involvement in emerging media and interactive storytelling, and she became the Director of Sundance Institute's New Frontier Labs Program where she supported artists working on experimental projects that brought together film, art, media, and technology. Kamal Sinclair's expertise as a consultant for organizations such as the Ford Foundation's JustFilms program, Rockefeller Foundation's Food System Vision Prize, and as a board member for Eyebeam and the New Museum of Contemporary Art's ONX Initiative have led to her becoming an influential figure in the industry. Kamal is currently the Senior Director of Digital Innovation at The Music Center in Los Angeles where she oversees TMC Arts, Center Theatre Group, Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera, and LA Phil. Additionally, she teaches at USC's Media Arts + Practice program and advises various organizations such as the Peabody Awards Interactive Board, For Freedoms, MIT's Center for Advanced Virtuality, and the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation.
