Eileen O'Connor

Eileen O'Connor is a prominent professor at State University of New York Empire State College with a vast and impressive background in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) applications. With over a decade-long experience in developing and using three-dimensional virtual spaces, Eileen has successfully enabled immersive interactions among various educators and communicators remotely. She is also an avid researcher who studies the emerging uses of augmented reality, badging, virtual reality, and emerging technologies, all while focusing on science education, adult education, K12 education, technology development, and online teaching.

Eileen holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Design in science education and instructional technology from the University at Albany, an M.Civil Eng. in Environmental Health Science and Engineering from The Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from the College of New Rochelle. Before her career in academia, she held various positions such as a developer/consultant at Interactive Learning Solutions, an assistant director at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and various faculty positions at the State University of New York Empire State College. She also worked at IBM, Technicon, and was a chemist at the Department of Labs & Research: Westchester County.

In her current endeavors, Eileen is collaborating with a think-tank of educators to integrate immersive and emerging technologies into their communication platforms. Her expertise and vast experience bring significant value to all areas she's involved in.
