Enabled online consumers to make better decisions in the face of complex alternatives, by providing  an AI driven sales assistant for Web based Sales transactions.

System was designed for one of the first web ecommerce sites: a wine retailer with a database of over 750 selections that changed frequently. Our AI software advised customers on selections based upon meal planning and prior purchasing preferences.

Founded Prescient Software as a spin out  of the Software Configuration Management Applications Division of Atherton Technologies in 1992.  The company manufactured and sold one product, MergeRight, a tool used to compare and merge multiple versions of a file (now contributed as an open source project on Source Forge).  Most sales were technology licenses to vendors of Version Control and Software Configuration Management products,  such as Lucent, and large computing companies such as Tandem Computers.

Secured re-sellers, recruited executives and engineering staff, negotiated contracts, developed business plans and participated in raising investment capital. Provided customer support services.

In addition to software sales and manufacturing, Prescient Software was the parent company for the SWIFT Design Group.

Managed 14 R&D engineers developing Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) applications, for new flagship RISC computer technology, with a $1.5M budget.

Developed innovative Prescient Agents, using predictive analytics and adaptive interface technology, increasing collaboration between  developers,  traceability of requirements, and better spec-to-source conformance. This technology was widely praised for its ease of use, that transformed the computer-human interaction paradigm, and generated  substantial technical and press recognition for HP, the R&D lab and McGregor's team.

Dramatically reduced  development time by 70% by inventing the SWIFT Development method (forerunner to today's Agile Development methods).

Led several interdisciplinary and interdivisional technical teams, developing a high performance computer environment (forerunner of Cloud Computing), including supercomputers, linked by the first high-speed worldwide TCP-iP corporate network, the HP Internet.
