David Levitus is a historian-turned-activist, founder and executive director of LA Forward, and a passionate advocate for political power-building, social justice, and environmental sustainability. With a Ph.D. in urban studies, history, and politics from the University of Southern California, David has dedicated his career to studying and promoting coalitions and movements that strive to create a fair, just, and sustainable world. He has published several articles and essays analyzing the political power dynamics that shape our cities and societies, including "The Progressive Dilemma" and "YIMBYism and the Cruel Irony of Metropolitan History." As the leader of LA Forward, David mobilizes a community of activists and policy advocates who demand that Los Angeles's city government prioritizes policies and practices that foster equity, opportunity, and well-being for all residents. Additionally, David serves on the board of LA Voice Action and the Movement Voter Project's LA Local Organizing Team, and has participated in several social innovation and leadership programs.
