Naoko Nishimura

Naoko Nishimura, born in Tokyo in 1967 and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, is a prominent figure in the field of science communication and writing.

She graduated from Waseda University's Faculty of Human Sciences in 1991, majoring in 細胞生物学, which later merged into the Faculty of Advanced Science and Engineering.

With a career spanning over 10 years at the renowned science magazine Newton, Naoko honed her skills in editing and communication in the realm of life sciences.

Transitioning into a freelance サイエンスライター, she has been actively engaged in producing content primarily focused on life sciences.

In addition to her freelance work, Naoko Nishimura serves as a special correspondent for Nature Asia-Pacific and has been contributing to the field of science journalism.

Since October 2013, she has also been part of the Science Media Centre (SMC) as a part-time staff member, further enriching her portfolio and impact in the science communication sphere.
