Lawrence Fung, M.D., Ph.D.
Lawrence Fung, M.D., Ph.D., is a highly accomplished psychiatrist and neuroscientist with a rich academic and professional background. He holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Cornell University, an M.D. from The George Washington University, and postdoctoral research fellowship and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Fung has also completed a general psychiatry residency at Stanford University Medical Center and a Master of Science in Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Fung brings extensive experience in clinical practice and research, having held various positions at Stanford University, including Clinical Assistant Professor, Staff Psychiatrist/Instructor, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow (Research Track). He is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences (Medical Center Line) at Stanford University. Dr. Fung has previously worked as an Associate Director at Neurogen Corporation and a Research Investigator at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Dr. Fung's expertise lies in understanding the neural basis of social behavior and communication, particularly in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related conditions. His research has been published in numerous scientific journals and has been widely cited in the field. Dr. Fung's current research focuses on developing novel interventions to improve social communication and well-being in individuals with ASD and their families. His research combines clinical, behavioral, and neuroimaging techniques to better understand the underlying neural mechanisms of social behavior.
