Alexandra Zimmermann

Alexandra Zimmermann is a specialist in conservation conflict resolution, focusing on human-wildlife conflict and coexistence, with expertise in stakeholder dialogue and community engagement.

She holds a Master of Science degree in Conservation Biology from the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology at the University of Kent, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Leeds.

Alexandra has pursued additional education in conflict negotiation at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management at Harvard Business School Executive Education, and negotiation & dispute mediation at Harvard Law School.

Her career includes roles such as Senior Advisor at the Global Wildlife Program at The World Bank, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, Chair of the IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict Task Force, and various positions at Chester Zoo, Wildlife Conservation Society, and Fauna & Flora International.
