Dr. Julie Posetti is an experienced journalist, producer, and academic with a passion for journalism, digital transformation, and protecting the rights of journalists and whistleblowers. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Communications (Journalism) from the University of Canberra, and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Wollongong. Posetti is currently a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Freedom of the Media (CFOM) at the University of Sheffield.
Posetti's career spans over two decades and includes several roles in news, current affairs, and documentaries as a reporter, producer, and presenter. She specializes in reporting on race, culture, and religion, as well as investigative journalism and commentary on politics, media, and social issues. She is also interested in the use of social media and podcasting in journalism.
In her previous roles, Posetti has held leadership positions and worked as a consultant for organizations such as Fairfax Media, UNESCO, media140, and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). She has also taught journalism at the University of Canberra and the University of Wollongong. Her academic research interests include journalism safety and protecting confidential sources, social media, political journalism, multicultural reporting, and public broadcasting.
