Henry Bienen
Henry Bienen is a well-known academic administrator and leader in the field of higher education. He is best known for his tenure as President at Northwestern University from 1995 to 2009. During his tenure, he successfully led Northwestern through a period of significant growth and transformation, securing its position as one of the leading research institutions in the country.
Prior to joining Northwestern, Bienen held academic and administrative positions at the University of Chicago, where he served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. He also served as the Chairman of the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Throughout his career, Bienen has been recognized for his expertise and leadership in the areas of public policy, international relations, and higher education. He has authored numerous publications on these topics and has served on a variety of national and international boards and committees.
Bienen holds a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Council on Foreign Relations.
