Berend Sauer

Berend Sauer is an environmental economist passionate about addressing the climate crisis and its impact on future generations.

He holds a Master's degree in Environment & Development, specializing in Environmental Economics from the London School of Economics, where he focused on climate change, migration, and the role of economics in climate policy.

Berend's key interests lie in climate justice, environmental economics, mitigation and adaptation strategies, migration, human rights, statistical learning, and data analysis.

Currently, Berend works as an Investment Associate at Phase2.earth, where he integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into investment decision-making to combat the climate emergency.

With a background in finance and a strong belief in the financial sector's role in addressing climate change, Berend aims to contribute to the transformation of the financial system towards sustainability.

Previously, he co-founded Sustainability Monitoring and gained experience as an Intern in Climate Finance at the Global Center on Adaptation and as a Credit Risk Summer Analyst at ProCredit Bank.

Berend's educational journey includes a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a Minor in Political Science from Middlebury College and high school studies in Economics, History, and English Language and Literature at UWC Atlantic College.
