Kathleen Yang-Clayton is a scholar, consultant, fundraiser, educator, and change agent dedicated to civic and social change. With a Ph.D. in Sociology, she has worked for progressive campaigns, policy think tanks, universities, and community coalitions. Her exceptional skills in strategic planning and execution have led her to co-lead the Illinois Census 2020 Technical Assistance Project, advocate for Same Day Registration legislation that passed in 2016, lead visionary non-profits as an Executive Director, raise over $2 million for research projects promoting racial equity and civic engagement, co-found Chicago United for Equity, and share her expertise with undergraduate and MPA students at UIC and the University of Chicago. Her strengths are in advocacy, coalition building, fundraising, facilitation, strategy development, and program implementation.
