Michael Cruz is an accomplished educator and school operations director with a passion for fostering community and co-learning through the use of restorative practices and design thinking. With a BA in History from Stanford University, as well as a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship from UC Berkeley and an MA in Educational Leadership and Policy from Teachers College, Columbia University, Cruz is well-equipped with the knowledge necessary to tackle the unique challenges facing today's schools.

Cruz's professional experience includes roles as School Principal at the David Douglas School District and Director of School Operations at Newark Public Schools, as well as stints as a Secondary Special Education Teacher and a Student Body President at Associated Students of Stanford University. He has also served as a PPIA Junior Summer Institute 2011 Fellow at UC Berkeley and a Board Trustee at Discovery Charter School in Newark, NJ.
