Liz Whiteley is an environmental scientist, policymaker, and nonprofit leader with a strong commitment to sustainability. She holds a Master's of Environmental Science and Management (MESM) from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Systems (Chemistry) and Economics from University of California, San Diego. Liz has spent her career working on finding innovative solutions to environmental problems and raising awareness among communities about the impact they can have on the planet.

In her most recent role, Liz served as the Membership Director for the Western United States at 1% for the Planet, a nonprofit connecting businesses with environmental organizations. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council, where she helped advance non-fluorinated refrigerants to reduce the climate impact of modern refrigeration. Liz has also worked as an Environmental Scientist and Environmental Protection Specialist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she developed policies to phase out HCFCs.

Liz's diverse professional experience includes teaching and research roles at UC Santa Barbara and experience in adventure leadership at Frost Valley YMCA. In her free time, she enjoys surfing, biking, and playing with her dog.
