Claude Florin is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and advisor with 30 years of experience in launching and growing early-stage technology companies. He co-founded three startups and managed corporate alliances and new business development in technology ventures. He is the founder of A3 Angels, a seed investment and mentoring club, and the Swiss Angel Forum, a collaboration of six business angel networks. As a venture partner in Polytech Ventures, a leading Swiss fund investing in early-stage technology, he has extensive experience in early-stage technology investments. He advised the European Commission DG Research & Innovation on Horizon2020 access to risk finance and organized the Humain Brain Forum Innovation Award since 2005 to support startups that contribute to the treatment of neurological disorders. Additionally, he is an advisor and investor in several startups, including Lemoptix, Antlia, Sophia Genetics, Haloya, Ukko Mobile, Fastree3D, Vivamea, Domosafety, Nebion, and Jemmic. Claude Florin studied Management at EPFL, Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and has received further business education from Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, and IMD Business School. He has also led the development of several new imaging and media product lines applied to telecoms and medical device industries and deployed these at 15 top worldwide telecoms service providers and more than 150 leading healthcare institutions. He has ample experience in open innovation ventures with SMBs and corporations in telecoms and healthcare, including Alcatel, Cisco, HP, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, NEC Bayer Technidata, General Electric, Philips, and Siemens. He is an independent board member and interim manager with the ability to bring enthusiasm and creativity to startup teams with commercial and technical expertise in nanotechnology, photonics, multimedia, mobile communications, medical imaging, clinical software, and biomedical engineering.
