Programme Lead at HEE e-Learning for Healthcare

Made Tech are a high end consultancy working primarily in the public sector, helping government at national and local level to improve their digital services. 

As a Delivery Manager, I help my teams to engage with the client, defining the work and delivering the right solution.

Since joining Made Tech, I have worked on a range of deliveries within the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC). The common thread is that all the projects have high social value, whether that is ensuring safer buildings after the Grenfell tragedy or helping vulnerable people settle in this country as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

I was brought in to Container Solutions to get their Academy off the ground, using my knowledge of learning technologies and agile practices.

Container Solutions are a cloud native consultancy that are moving from a start-up to a scale-up. As the company matures, they wished to improve their L&D offer to make Container Solutions a more attractive place to work and ensure their people are fully skilled and feel valued. 

My role was to lead on establishing the Container Solutions Academy. This included defining the Academy's purpose and scope, documenting processes and ways of working, creating a prioritised backlog of work, and acting an evangelist for the Academy across the company before handing a sustainable Academy over to permanent staff.

Hippo is a high end digital consultancy working primarily in the public sector. 

As a Principal Delivery Manager, I go in to client workspaces to effect change, bringing best practice to ways of working and placing the user at the heart of the design process. 

My first project was working on the NHS COVID Vaccination data platform, an extremely high profile project of national importance with a fast delivery cycle. The platform had been implemented at pace before I joined the programme and my role was two-fold: firstly, I had to stabilise the team by establishing sustainable and efficient working practices; secondly, I had to help develop the platform further while dealing with the large amounts of technical debt resulting from the hasty roll out. Both of these were acheived successfully, allowing the NHS to take over an efficient and established team.

My second project was in the DWP and involved re-platforming and upgrading an enterprise-wide telephony system used by 30,000 telephone agents in the second largest contact centre in Europe. The project had shifting requirements so needed us to be adaptable in our solutions and demanded intensive business engagement across a complicated stakeholder environment. I also mentored inexperienced team members and helped upskill DWP staff in digital best practice.

My third project was working with the Skills and Testing Agency, an ALB of the Dept for Education. My role was leading the Operational Readiness work stream to ensure the successful implementation of the service.

Principal Delivery Manager

As Product Manager for the HEE Learning Hub, I took a leading role in the development of the next generation learning platform for the NHS. 

Working in an agile multi-functional team, we followed GDS practices to develop a high quality product for use by approximately 2 million users across the NHS and social care. 

Progress had stalled and stakeholders were concerned, so I was pleased to be able to steady the ship, give a clear focus to the team and bring stakeholders back on board.

Product Owner for the HEE Learning Hub

As Programme Lead at HEE e-Learning for Healthcare, I was responsible for a multi-million pound programme with around 100 staff. We designed and developed digital learning content and delivered it free of charge to the NHS and social care workforce. Our content was viewed many millions of times a month and we managed a self-built platform with over a million registered users, so it was a significant operation that I am proud to have helped grow.

I oversaw all aspects of HEE e-Learning for Healthcare, which included our content development team, the user support team and the platform team. I ensured that the organisation had the right strategy, skills, tools and culture to be a success.

e-Learning for Healthcare is a Health Education England programme that develops and delivers e-learning to healthcare workers in the UK and beyond. 

As Technical Manager for e-LfH, I am responsible for all the technology that e-LfH uses. This means I set the technical strategy for the organisation and I head up the Technical Team of 24 people.
