Joel represents domestic and foreign insurers in coverage disputes and bad faith claims. Joel focuses his practice on claims made under directors and officers, financial institutions, errors and omissions, professional liability and employment liability insurance policies.  Joel was selected to Clyde's prestigious Global Associate Program, where he worked with attorneys in the firm's Dusseldorf office.

While at Sedgwick LLP, Joel focused his practice on defense and indemnity obligations under lines of coverage including commercial general liability, property liability, and primary and excess casualty policies. He advised Fortune 500 insurance carriers on, and often advocated on their behalf in, complex first- and third-party actions, representing clients through all stages of litigation.

Joel specialized in insurance coverage and insurance bad faith litigation at Selman Breitman. He handled all first and third-party insurance coverage issues involving all types of insurance policies, including personal and commercial auto, homeowners, CGL, and all types of professional errors & omissions policies,  He authored numerous coverage opinions, mediated several cases, and successfully litigated both declaratory relief and bad faith actions.

Joel's practice at Gordon & Rees focused on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation and advice involving primary and excess liability policies with an emphasis on complex personal and advertising injury, cyber-liability, ERISA, environmental, asbestos, other mass torts, and construction defect matters. He also represented corporate clients in connection with contract negotiation, dispute resolute, and related litigation.

Joel practiced in the areas of catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death and elder abuse and neglect. He dedicated his practice exclusively to helping victims who suffered injuries due to the negligent acts of others. Joel handled cases involving serious personal injury, traumatic brain injury, broken bones, back and neck injuries, limb loss, permanent paralysis, burn injuries, vision loss/impairment, vehicle accidents, and elder abuse & neglect.

Joel's practice at DiCaro, Coppo & Popcke consisted primarily of representing health care providers and facilities in litigation.  He also represented numerous health care and ancillary care professionals before the various licensing boards of the State of California, including the Medical Board of California, the Board of Psychology, and the Board of Behavioral Sciences.  Joel advised numerous hospitals and other local health care providers on compliance and risk management issues.
