- Supervise and manage 10 attorneys, 3 support staff, and various interns and fellows, assigning general and federal litigation and transactional matters and monitor and oversee all aspects of assigned projects. Evaluate and assist in the professional development of attorneys, providing regular direction, training and yearly formal evaluations. Participate and represent the State’s Attorney’s Office’s at recruitment opportunities, interview candidates and make hiring recommendations. Oversee outside counsel and their projects.	Defend and affirmatively litigate a wide range of lawsuits, including civil rights, constitutionality of County ordinances, Freedom of Information Act, declaratory relief, injunctions, administrative review, tax and revenue matters, whistleblower suits, home rule and administrative regulation, firearm/gun regulation, and sanctuary city issues	Collaborate and provide letters of advice and counsel to Cook County and Cook County’s separately elected officials, such as the State’s Attorney, the Sheriff’s Office, the Chief Judge, the Cook County Commissioners and Board President, in policy related issues such as governance, legislation, health care, procurement, and immigration	Prepare production of documents and respond to civil subpoenas served upon the SAO and other County offices, including litigating motions to stay and to quash	Draft and review real estate transaction and vendor procurement contracts	Manage the administrative hearing call for the Department of Environment and Sustainability and prosecute egregious environmental violations in circuit court	Assist in providing oversight and mentoring to less experienced Assistant State’s Attorneys, including revising briefs and filings, and advising litigation strategy
