Key responsibilities:

a.	Reporting directly to the CEO and charged with overall oversight and management of finance operations, corporate finance activities and legal/compliance functions of the Group

b.	Conceptualise, set up, educate, monitor and enforce internal policies based on business strategy to optimise the execution of the Group’s vision and goals in an effective and aligned fashion across the various divisions via check and balances, data/results driven decision making and continuous improvement to achieve scalable processes.

c.	Restructured the finance team within 18 months, from  a “transactions support” small team of 5, covering billing and payment functions to a “SOP driven” regional team of 20, comprising of a core HQ team, local controllers and a finance shared service team across Singapore, China and Indonesia. Collectively, the finance team supports all 6 divisions of the Group, covering finance operations (billing, payment, AR & AP), FP&A, business forecasting, fund raising, compliance and value added services (fintech, cash on delivery and insurance).

Responsible for managing the fund's Southeast Asian investments in the education and O&G sectors. Demonstrated track record of driving performance and value creation across the portfolio companies via strategic planning and business transformation.

Key responsibilities include:

a)	Engagement with management teams and Board Directors across portfolio companies across sectors

b)	Partner with CFO and CEO of relevant businesses to drive turnarounds, creating and defending value

c)	Propose and recommend necessary value adding initiatives and lead management team / service providers for implementation accordingly

d)	Engage with relevant financial institutions/lenders on financing or refinancing of existing debt facilities at select companies, including debt restructuring or renegotiation when required

e)	Develop an investment case for any potential follow-on equity investment to select portfolio companies

f)	Prepare and manage divestment process of select portfolio companies, including selection of investment bank, management of the auction process and negotiating a sale / purchase agreement

g)	Identify, evaluate and implement strategic proposals to improve portfolio performance and drive growth, which includes: business transformation; developing new frameworks or governance models; M&A; JVs; organizational restructuring; and financial restructuring

Responsible for investing and ensuring investee company transformation and continuous value expansion. Involved in the life cycle of the investments from origination, investment and growing the business stage until divestment stage. Key responsibilities include:

i) Origination, evaluation and development of investment case for Investment Committee;

ii) Assuming lead role in executing investment deals, including structuring, due diligence, valuation,
KPI-setting, and negotiating of definitive legal agreements;

iii) Driving corporate governance and on-boarding processes, including designing and following through 100-day plans; reporting templates, improvement of budgeting methods and planning strategy workshops;

b) Head all corporate finance activities (Subsequent Capital Raising/IPO/Trade Sale) for investee companies to engage with business leadership and external parties (investors, consultants, independent valuers, IPO managers, legal advisors and auditors) to ensure alignment and to optimise execution

Arowana Capital's inaugural fund, the Australasian Microcap PE Fund I (AMPEF I) is managed on behalf of investors from Australia, Asia and Europe. Launched in July 2007, the fund has navigated through the Global Financial Crisis and as at Q3 2012, returned 65% of committed capital to investors, realizing gross IRRs in excess of 57% for realized investments.
