Timothy Markison is a seasoned patent attorney with more than 2,000 patent applications under his belt, 100 issued patents, and a wealth of experience as an IP executive. He has developed various solutions that improve IP protection and utilization, lowering costs, reducing cycle time, and improving quality. He is the founder and CEO of Athalonz, LLC, and the mind behind a six-sigma-based patent application drafting process, which significantly improves quality and cycle time.
Markison has a background in law and electrical and electronics engineering. He holds a JD in Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
In his career, Markison has worked as a partner at Garlick & Markison and Garlick, Harrison & Markison, as VP & General Counsel at SigmaTel, and as Sr. Patent Attorney at Motorola. He has mainly focused on preparing and prosecuting patents in wireless telecommunications, semiconductors, mixed signal technologies, networking, and computers. Additionally, he has developed and administered patent application drafting and prosecution quality control programs, led advanced inventing programs, trained associate attorneys, managed dockets, and provided client management.
Markison is also credited with developing one of the first virtual law firms, pioneering a custom patent database that improves patent docketing, patent tracking, and patent utilization, and introducing a systematic approach to identifying valuable present and future patentable subject matter.
