Joined in seed stage and created the company’s first in-house engineering team from both remote and Philadelphia-area employees • Grew the company's initial product offering into a scalable API platform capable of handling exponentially more data with previously unattainable response times • Participated in Series A pitches and helped secure 5 million in venture funding • Increased customer engagement by redesigning and rebuilding the DrayNow interface to better meet the needs they demonstrated in on-site visits and interviews • Built partnerships and negotiated deals with technology vendors that eliminated hours of document management work per day both internally and for customers, streamlined phone support operations, reduced overnight phone support hours, and significantly cut costs on internal IT support • Authored algorithms and data structures that enable DrayNow to solve shipping industry efficiency problems that the competition cannot • Audited and upgraded platform security to keep valuable customer and personal information encrypted and inaccessible, even in the event of developer error • Won the PACT award for Top Tech Startup

DrayNow, Inc.

- Built an in-house and distributed team of top-of-class engineers, enabling transitioning from a dated and non-scalable platform to a highly scalable and durable architecture that enabled TechnologyAdvice to multiply its revenue.- Drove integrations with Salesforce, Splunk, and a range of services to bolster engineering velocity, dramatically increasing productivity for the business and technical teams.- Negotiated and redlined legal contracts with technical partners, ensuring TechnologyAdvice pays bottom dollar for excellent service and avoiding renewal pitfalls.- Implemented and coached the team on new technologies such as Docker, the full scope of AWS services including DynamoDB, Lambda, and ECS; Node.js, and engineering concepts such as agile development, continuous integration and deployment, and lightweight business process that enabled predictability and productivity.- Acted as in-house security expert, closing numerous attack vectors, introducing encryptions, and educated the business and technical team on how they must be used to maintain a reasonable level of security.- Enabled and personally created countless open-source efforts that attracted engineering talent both as full-time employee prospects and as outside contributors to the TechnologyAdvice platform. This effort was also a measurable mechanic to encourage employee retention, as well as gain publicity in tech outlets for our contributions.- Researched and explored new business products and ventures, defining the next stages of TechnologyAdvice's public and client offerings.

TechnologyAdvice

Led a team of engineers in a transition from a dated and failing technology stack to a modern, scalable, service-oriented solution based in Amazon Web Services.  Rapidly scaled the company to new business verticals and provided new short-term business opportunities through a modular design that allowed separate scalable modules to be stitched together in new ways and sold as a new services, with minimal time and risk.  Grew the engineering department to two agile teams, aiding in recruitment by open-sourcing our non-industry-specific libraries and presenting them in speaking engagements at area technology conferences.  Managed hiring/firing, established relationships with other technology companies, headed up all build vs. buy decisions.

Developed and led two separate teams in developing high-end storefronts for major international brands including Mattel, Timberland, NASCAR, Peacocks UK, Tumi, Eastern Mountain Sports, Spanx, and Toys R Us, driving over a billion dollars annually. Designed and created unique eCommerce features such as Peacocks’ Build the Look, proven to increase traffic and prolong consumer retention. Supported development teams and drastically reduced development time by writing internal development tools, allowing developers to stay focused on their work. Promoted to an architect role to work with a team to design a new next-gen eCommerce system, working with executives at our biggest brand partners to launch.
