David Kato
David Kato is a highly successful tech entrepreneur from Brazil, with a passion for creating companies that use new technologies and innovative business models to create a better society. He is best known for his work with iFood, the leading platform for food delivery in LATAM. Kato was instrumental in the company's growth, having played different roles, such as CTO, CPO, COO, and Mexico Managing Director from 2011 until 2018. During this period, iFood became one of the most successful Brazilian/LATAM tech companies ever.
From 2015 until December 2017, Kato was in charge of Sindelantal, a joint venture between iFood and Just Eat (BMV: JEN), in Mexico. Under his management, Sindelantal grew over 125% CAGR in a brutally competitive market. In 2016, the company acquired Hellofood MX, generating 2.5MM downloads, and transacting almost MXN 500MM for our 3.500 restaurants partners. Kato's leadership skills earned Sindelantal recognition as one of the best Android apps by Google.
Between January 2018 and August 2018, Kato was in charge of iFood's operations in Argentina and Colombia and for new ventures. He left iFood to pursue new ventures after his remarkable achievements.
Before iFood, Kato was a partner at TerraForum, now part of Globant (NASDAQ: GLOB), where he managed consulting and technology projects for large Brazilian and multinational companies.
Kato is an alumnus of Universidade De São Paulo, where he studied a Masters and Bachelors in Management. He also studied at Colégio Bandeirantes.
Today, Kato is the founder of Nuture and the former host of the podcast desNegócio. He is also a founder at Jellyfish Ventures.
