Jorma Palmén
Jorma Palmén is a highly educated and experienced geological expert in the areas of mineralogy, mineral chemistry, and economical geology. He graduated from the University of Helsinki with a major in Geology and Mineralogy in 1997, completed his Licentiate of Technology degree from Helsinki University of Technology, and has worked as a researcher and assistant lecturer at Helsinki University of Technology and University of Helsinki.
Palmén began his professional career as a geologist at Fintact Oy in 2000, where he worked on spent nuclear fuel disposal. He then joined Pöyry Environment Oy in 2006 as a Senior Geologist and participated in various studies, including rock construction and tunneling projects, biosphere studies, and used nuclear fuel waste management. In 2010, he started teaching Engineering Geology and Applied Mineralogy at Aalto University and became a Project Specialist in the LaDiMo project funded by TEKES.
Recently, Mr. Palmén became a Co-Founder, CTO, and COB at LaDiMo Oy, a company that aims to further develop the extremely accurate Real-Time 3D Point Cloud Sensor. He is a member of the Finnish Geological Society, a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and also Chairman of the Board in the Finnish Mycological Society.
He specializes in mineralogy, structural geology, environmental and engineering geology, mineral chemistry, digital imaging techniques, and university teaching pedagogy. Mr. Palmén's recent studies cover photogrammetry, micro-optical designs, optoelectronics, and laser technologies.
