Ernesto Deschamps
Ernesto Deschamps is a accomplished individual with a diverse background in finance, philanthropy and education. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and began his career on Wall Street as a bond trader in the mid-1980s. In 1993, he left the finance industry to become the founding director of the Puerto Rico Community Foundation, where he managed all aspects of the foundation's work, including grant-making, fundraising, and donor engagement. He also served as the president of the American School of Puerto Rico and as an advisor to the Carlos Beltran Foundation, which focuses on promoting education, health and sports for underprivileged children. In addition, he has served on multiple boards, including the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Deschamps' notable achievements include being appointed to the President's Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities by President Barack Obama in 2010 and receiving the "Outstanding Director Award" by the Puerto Rico Community Foundation in 2012. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and has lived and worked in various regions across the United States, including New York, Philadelphia, and Puerto Rico.
In his free time, Deschamps enjoys traveling and immersing himself in different cultures. He is also passionate about education, particularly in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
