Rich Coffin, with over 29 years of professional experience as a Civil Engineer, brings a wealth of knowledge to his current position as Vice President and Project Director at HNTB, where he focuses on developing thoughtful, functional, and equitable transport solutions for the people of California, utilizing multi-modal design and urbanism. Coffin's areas of expertise include civil engineering, engineering project management, rail and station area design, bike and pedestrian planning, design, and safety, multi-modal interface, and tunneling and underground construction. Coffin's recent interests involve e-bike and new mobility planning, tolling and transit fare equity, slow streets, multi-modal network gap closures, and COVID-19 transport mobility shifts. Coffin has previously worked at Arup, Jacobs Associates, and Bechtel Corporation, where he honed his skills and became a prominent figure in the engineering community. He has also served as a Board Member/President at Walk San Francisco, further demonstrating his passion for urbanism and mobility.
