Gang Prevention Lead
Metropolitan Police
Dec 2013 - Apr 2016
With an ambition to bring about real, positive change in other peoples lives I stepped away from acting and into the world of gang prevention.
GAGV (Growing Against Gangs & Violence), an innititve created by the Metropolitan Police, was set up to prevent young people from joining gangs.
Across the capital, children as young as seven years old are joining gangs; selling drugs and carrying knives. Once involved, you and your family are targeted by rival gangs, and crazily, by your own as well.
Our job was to help young people see a more positive future ahead of them; giving them a greater perspective and understanding of the choices they are making.
It worked, but more has to be done.
