Great Circle Management Company

Strategic Management Consultant

In 2009 I co-founded TechiesGiveBack with the goal of helping folks like myself do more to help others. The organization mainly focused on organizing fundraising and volunteer events. Through these initiatives we raised $100,000 for CampInteractive, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, City Harvest, and Child's Play. In 2012 we decided to focus on RaisedBy.Us (see above), to create a more scalable way of raising money for charity.

Foursquare Partnership: Our first initiative in October-December 2009 was to work with Foursquare to monetize their leaderboard, which at the time was central to their app. We auctioned off the leaderboard, receiving bids from Pepsi, Seamless, and Motorola, with the former winning the right to re-skin the app with their branding. In return, they paid 4 cents every time a user checked-in in NY for 1 week, raising almost $10k for charity. This was the first time Foursquare was monetized, and the case study was used by Foursquare for a while after. At the end of the week we held a volunteer event.

Webutante Ball: Co-produced the Webutante Ball, an annual 700-person party during Internet Week New York. We helped bring in sponsors (including Microsoft, Etsy, Groupon), sell tickets, and with logistics, raising $50,000 for Michael J. Fox and City Harvest.

BackSpin: Conceived, produced, and publicized BackSpin, an Xbox Kinect Ping Pong tournament (raising $12k for Child's Play). Participating companies included Foursquare, Thrillist, Google, TechStars, and others.

myJambi was an online marketplace for services, facilitating buyers and sellers in finding services from providers and purchasers they can trust.

Xtify (acquired by IBM in 2013) is a mobile startup focusing on location-based services.

<a href="http://LendForPeace.org">LendForPeace.org</a> is a peer-to-peer lending platform focused on creating economic opportunities in the West Bank. Advised Founder and CEO on strategy and marketing strategy for a peace-driven, online microfinance startup. Assisted with a range of issues from transaction model to website development.

Marketing, Strategy, & Business Development Consultant

Steve & Barry's was an apparel retailer with 250 stores across the United States and celebrity brands including Sarah Jessica Parkers, Venus Williams, and others.

I started out in the Marketing Department for the first year. I was assigned the South East as a marketing region and was responsible for new store opening marketing, as well as the marketing of some of the company's licensed brands (e.g. Hershey's, Hasbro, Ford). Also coordinated the launch of a website for a new celebrity line.

Was selected to travel to company's Mumbai, India office to continue marketing from there. While in India I became head of Customer Care, overseeing the transition from an in-house team to the ramp up of an outsourced, 50 person call center, as well as continuing to manage a smaller internal team. I led all of Customer Care for the remainder of my time at the company, including the processes, KPIs & executive reports (shared with the company's founders and senior management). While in India I also worked on troubleshooting other areas, such as bridging the gap between the two offices in terms of awareness and cultural differences.
