With a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard University, Kasey's doctoral research delved into quantum electronics and low-temperature semiconductor electron transport. Her post-doctoral work focused on quantum optics, plasmonics, and GaN nanolasers, where she demonstrated the creation of nanoscale metal devices that made tiny fluorescent particles glow 1000x brighter.

She is proficient in Python, Swift, Ruby, Matlab, Java, and has familiarity with Javascript, C, Obj-C, and Fortran.
