Richmond's educational background includes studying for a Master's Degree at the Institute of Labor & Industrial Relations/School of Labor & Employment Relations and studying for a B.A. in Organizational Administration & General Business at Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, they studied for a Master of Science in Organizational Development at Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business and Management and completed the Riordan Fellows Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Richmond has worked in several organizations, including Google Cloud as a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Program Manager and Google as a Senior Retention & Progression Consultant, Hyatt Hotels Corporation as a Human Resources Consultant, and Riverside Insights as the Director of People Insights (Interim). Other notable positions Richmond has held over the years include the Director of Human Resources at Ardmore Roderick, the Operations Executive Director Crenshaw Family YMCA at YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and Chief Care Giver at Briscoe Family.
