Derek Grant is a highly experienced media professional with over 12 years of experience in magazine publishing, events, TV & digital, and over two decades of running his own media recruitment business. Derek started his career at Emap as an Advertising Manager but shortly climbed the ladder to become the Publisher of M&M Europe, where he has had responsibility for advertising, editorial, marketing, circulation, awards, and conferences. After a successful tenure at Emap, Derek joined CNN as an Account Director, working on a portfolio of ad agencies in London and Scandinavia and handling accounts like Saab, Volvo, Ericsson, Nokia, and SAS. At CNN, Derek initiated and developed a multi-million dollar global sponsorship deal with Volvo, which led to him becoming the Head of European Sponsorship. Derek was later promoted to the position of European Sales Director for CNN.com, where he spearheaded ground-breaking advertising and sponsorship deals for high-profile international clients. In 2000, Derek decided to step away from corporate life and start his own business, Escape Hatch Media Recruitment, and has since garnered a reputation for ethical recruitment, headhunting, marketing, and PR.
