Alan Goffinski is an accomplished Executive Director with a passion for public and community art, culture, and civic engagement. He has a degree in Social Work from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a certificate in Managing Social and Human Capital from The Wharton School. Alan has a diverse background, having previously worked as a Sound Designer at The Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies at the University of Virginia, Co-Producer at Telemetry Music Series, Director of Fun at CreativeMornings/Charlottesville, and Director at Charlottesville Mural Project, among others.
Alan has exceptional skills in managing nonprofits, coalition building, public speaking & media engagement, fundraising, community organizing, and strategic program development. His project management skills are undeniable, marked by his consistent deliberate inclusion of diverse, vibrant perspectives. He is an experienced fire breather, a cardboard architect, a world record holder, and has first runner-up to the National Amateur Dodgeball Association Championships to his name. He is also an artist, musician, and an expert in chicken husbandry and gardening.
As the Executive Director at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative, Alan brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role. His experience as a former Creative Placemaker at City as a Living Laboratory and former Community Liaison at HealthNet Community Health Centers highlights his ability to champion projects that benefit communities. As a Fellow at the Institute for Interanimation at the University of Virginia and a former Program Coordinator at Big Car Collaborative, Alan has developed a unique skill set that allows him to navigate the world of art and culture seamlessly.
