Ryan Spoon, a well-known figure in the sports industry, has an impressive and diverse professional background. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sorare, a company that redefines sports fandom, fantasy sports, and collectibles through its NFT game and marketplace. With its global fantasy football and NFTs, Sorare aims to become "the game within the game," and Spoon is a key player in its success.

Before joining Sorare, Spoon was the COO of BetMGM, a sports betting joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Entain. At BetMGM, Spoon oversaw product, technology, customer support, risk and payments, and other operational areas of the business and platform.

Spoon's experience in the sports industry also includes his time at ESPN, where he held various positions. He was the Senior Vice President of Digital and Social, and before that, he was the Senior Vice President of Digital Product and Design. Spoon helped build, operate, and grow many of the leading digital properties in sports, including ESPN.com, the ESPN app, ESPN Fantasy, ESPN Fantasy Football, and ESPN Social. ESPN's digital properties are the world's leading and most successful online sports service, boasting the number one sports website and app, as well as number one sports media publisher in social engagement across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Twice, Spoon was named to the Sports Business Journal's Forty Under 40 list.

Before ESPN, Spoon worked as a venture capitalist at Polaris Venture Partners, where he specialized in early-stage consumer internet, social media, and e-commerce investments. Spoon was also responsible for leading Dogpatch Labs, an early-stage incubator that was home to many companies, including Instagram, TaskRabbit, and Formspring.

Earlier in his career, Spoon was the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Widgetbox (now Flite), and he spent several years at eBay Inc focused on internet marketing, user acquisition, and social products. He also founded beRecruited, an online recruiting platform for high school student-athletes and college coaches and universities, which was later acquired by The Raine Group.

Spoon's education includes studying at Sidwell Friends and earning a BA from Duke University, where he was also a collegiate swimmer.
