Oguz Sunay is a highly accomplished professional in the mobile networking industry, with extensive expertise in software-defined networking (SDN), virtualization, and mobile edge cloud. Currently serving as the Vice President of Research & Development at Open Networking Foundation (ONF), he leads the service provider-driven mobile platform to drive wireless network infrastructure and carrier business models' transformation towards 5G with open-source, SDN, NFV, and cloud technologies. Before ONF, he served as CTO at Argela-USA and was an innovator of a Programmable Radio Access Network Architecture (ProgRAN) for 5G, enabling the world's first dynamically programmable RAN slicing solution. During his tenure as CTO, he led the efforts in architecting and developing proofs-of-concepts (PoCs) for ProgRAN, including enterprise use cases. Sunay has also held prior positions at Nokia Research Center and Bell Laboratories, extensively participating in various 3GPP committees. He holds over 30 US and European patents on various aspects of 3G, 4G and 5G, and authored over 15 patent applications on various aspects of the ProgRAN architecture since 2015.
