Bill Burns is a highly experienced and accomplished Chief Trust Officer and VP of Cloud Business Transformation Strategy at Informatica. With over 20 years of experience in security, Bill has excellent skills in cryptography, network security, identity management, and risk and threat modeling. He has studied Business Administration and Electrical Engineering at Michigan Technological University, and he also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

During his career, Bill has worked for several top companies, including Scale Venture Partners and Netflix, where he helped transition the production systems to the cloud and expanded the company's revenue and subscriber growth. As Informatica's first CISO, he established the foundational HIPAA- and SOC2-compliance and security programs to accelerate Informatica's cloud business. Bill's teams have designed and deployed publicly-trusted, WebTrust-certified Root CAs, piloted NFC-powered physical access control systems, automated 3rd-party partner risk assessments, and built from scratch ISO-27000 aligned HIPAA and SOC2 certified security programs.

Bill is highly skilled in effective negotiation, audit compliance, and governance, security strategy, and business process consulting. He has also granted two computer security patents and is an active advisor to several security startups. Additionally, he is a member of the RSA Conference Program Committee and a Formerly Assistant Emergency Coordinator at Campbell/Santa Clara County Emergency Communications Services.
