Hung Ly is a highly experienced and innovative wireless systems designer who specializes in 3G UMTS, 4G LTE, and 5G NR R&D. Hung has worked as a Staff Systems Engineer for Qualcomm Research for a number of years, where he has focused on making impactful contributions to 5G PHY/MAC design, including initial access and mobility. He is an expert in several areas, including information theory, digital signal processing, and algorithm design and development. Furthermore, he has extensive experience with programming languages such as Matlab, C++, Python, and Tensorflow.

Hung holds a BS in Electronics and Telecommunications from Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, an MS in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. During his time in academia, Hung served as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at Texas A&M University, a Research Intern at Huawei Technologies USA - Wireless R&D Department, and a Lecturer at Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.

Hung is a 3GPP RAN1 delegate representing Qualcomm on 5G NR standardization. He has significant expertise in several areas relevant to 5G NR R&D, including the synchronization channel raster, synchronization signal block, system information, RACH procedure, radio link monitoring, radio resource management, mobility enhancement, and coverage enhancement. Hung is also an intern manager and mentor who excels at working as both a team player and individual contributor.
