In these times, social imagination is a radical act, affirming that all of us make the future. When we have the audacity to dream in public, when we begin to turn imagination into action, we can move the world. Creating the neighborhoods we want to live in requires social imagination, the capacity to envision alternatives to what is, together remaking reality. What if instead of another holiday commemorating the past, we took time to envision and celebrate the future?

The Great Streets Challenge is a program of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Great Streets Initiative to envision, collaborate on, and build transformative street infrastructure projects. The Great Streets Challenge aims to:
- Build strong partnerships between communities and the City of Los Angeles.
Empower communities to develop a vision to transform their corridors.
- Design streets with a community’s vision of how to improve our neighborhoods for all
people.
- Implement projects that transform our streets into safe, accessible, and vibrant public
spaces in alignment with adopted City policies.

Can using arts and culture as a framework for environmental advocacy
raise awareness on a more sustainable future: cleaner air, smart transportation,
environmental justice, public history and personal memory, in the Leimert Park Village

Provisions research residencies bring artists, scholars, and leaders from across the globe to the Washington DC to pursue creative research on art and social change themes. Participants investigate policies, practices, and politics while exploring transformative social strategies and imaginations. The rapidly changing urban landscape of the US capital offers a special context, model, and resource from which to propose and prepare social futures. All research residents present their research through public talks in downtown DC and at George Mason University in VA, and organize investigations into a final pdf portfolio for online publishing. Provisions supports national, international, and DC-based research fellows.
