Rebecca Shapiro is a multi-talented fine artist, illustrator, and author based in Portland with a passion for community outreach and programming. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Fine Art from Smith College, and later pursued a Digital Arts Certificate in graphic design and illustration at Portland Community College. A lover of art and education, Shapiro sought further certification in Artist as Educator Certification at Portland Children's Museum, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine and Studio Arts at Glassell School of Art.

As Chief of Staff at GuildWorks' Architecture of the Air, Shapiro applies her knowledge and skills to creating experiential art in public spaces and events. Her fine art has been exhibited in high-profile events such as the 2015 TED Active Conference and the Portland International Airport. Shapiro's artistic prowess also extends to custom illustrations. Dubbed her "signature skill," her illustrations have been used in medical textbooks, ebooks, murals and cards.

Shapiro's commitment to community extends beyond art - she has also made an impact in community outreach and programming. Her experience as a community organizer for Freelancers Union and Regional Director for Ladies Who Launch has given her the knowledge to help individuals and organizations refine programming, curate content and build community.

In addition to her accomplishments, Shapiro also offers her readers some of her most valuable insight through her writing. She has authored "Work Independently & Live Connectedly: 52 Steps to Freelancing Freedom," as well as "The Art Parent Guide," a program that helps parents and volunteers establish an arts integration program in their child’s school.
