Ken Gideon
Ken Gideon is a highly experienced professional in the higher education sector. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Higher Education Administration from Old Dominion University back in 1988, and since then, he has held different positions in the field. He worked at Old Dominion University for more than twelve years, working in positions such as Special Events Coordinator, Assistant Director of Licensing and Special Events Coordinator, Senior Admissions Counselor, and Admissions Officer. Ken continued his education by pursuing a Masters's degree in Education (MEd), Higher Education/Higher Education Administration and a graduate diploma in organizational communication from The University of Queensland.
Afterward, Ken relocated to Australia in 2005, where he worked at the University of Southern Queensland for three years as a Project Officer for Development. He was responsible for alumni and development activities, including re-opening the Development Office that had closed in 2000. In 2008, he moved to the University of Queensland School of Medicine, where he created a formalized alumni program and established a team of professionals to handle engagement activities.
Ken left the University of Queensland School of Medicine in 2012 to become the Alumni Manager at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). At QUT, he led his team's efforts to connect and engage with the institution's more than 250,000 alumni across the globe. Ken is passionate about his work, and as such, he co-founded the Australian University Alumni Professionals Group (AUAPG) in 2013 to help improve the advancement of alumni professionals.
In June 2019, Ken returned to the University of Southern Queensland as the Director (Alumni), a role in which he currently serves. In his role as Director, he oversees the coordination of engagement with the institution's 110,000 alumni.
