Summary:During my fourth year at GE, I continued to develop a high velocity engineering team, growing it from 3 to 10 members. As a team we focused on continuously improving our Agile and DevOps practices. Having prioritized and implemented strong testing and continuous delivery processes, we were able to improve team productivity and deliver product improvements quickly and safely to our customers. Summary:Continuing my journey at GE, I realized that as an individual contributor I could only tackle a finite set of initiatives effectively. I decided that in order to better meet the ever growing challenges of running a world-class PaaS, I needed to scale out my capacity by building, managing, and providing technical leadership of my own engineering team. In my third year at GE, I helped scale the Predix Platform, running instances across US, Asia, and Europe, supporting thousands of customers and their production applications. I identified components in our services ecosystem which lacked the elastic scalability that would be required as customer demand increased. To address this risk, I invented a patent pending framework enabling Predix developers to create on-demand instances of services like Redis, RabbitMQ, and Logstash for use in their application stack. Summary:My primary responsibility was to support the production web applications at Yelp, ensuring their availability and reliability. At the time Yelp was experiencing hyper growth and the infrastructure was struggling to keep pace with both customer and developer demand. I took the initiative to look at ways to modernize the compute infrastructure at Yelp, performing a functional and cost analysis of existing datacenter deployment, third party hosting services, and Amazon AWS, to determine benefits of each.
