Tara Teng is a passionate advocate for human rights, ethical fashion, and female empowerment. She studied at Trinity Western University, acquiring a Bachelor's of Education degree. She made a significant impact as the BC Director of Operations at The Joy Smith Foundation by helping in the fight against human trafficking. Tara is also a TEDx speaker, a former Miss World Canada 2012, and the former Director of Communications and Community Engagement at Elletourage. She is a mentor with the Miss BC leadership program and speaks at local schools and events to inspire young girls. Her work has helped to enact new laws in Canada to safeguard victims of human trafficking. For her groundbreaking work, she was awarded several honors, including Canada's "Woman of the Year" in 2011, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the International Heroes Award.
