Khushal Thakur is a financial expert with a wide range of experience in the industry. Previously an Adviser at the Bank of England and Vice President at Nomura, he is currently the Head of Regulatory Affairs at Santander UK. In this role, he is responsible for developing regulatory strategy and liaising with public authorities such as the Bank of England, PRA, FCA, CMA, PSR, etc.

With a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and an MBA in Finance and Economics, Khushal has a varied and extensive background in financial markets, regulatory policy, and market structure. He began his career as a Credit Trader, where he traded European High Yield Credit, including Corporate Bonds, CDS, and Leveraged Loans. During the European Sovereign Debt crisis, he also traded Spanish and Portuguese banks and European Insurance Credit.

Khushal's professional interests have broadened considerably in the last five years, and he is now also interested in policy development, regulation, and its impact on bank business models and strategy. He remains broadly interested in financial markets, particularly Credit and Rates, but his expertise extends to policymaking and other relevant areas within the industry.

Outside of work, Khushal enjoys playing squash, tennis, and golf, as well as training for marathons.
