Heng Luo is a highly accomplished Bioinformatics expert and leader with more than a decade of experience in the healthcare, drug safety, and food safety domains. Luo is a graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. He then pursued a dual Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Luo has extensive knowledge and expertise in Chemoinformatics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, and Molecular Modeling, which he has employed to provide insights in the healthcare industry.

Luo has worked diligently to build several successful teams and mentored 11 master-level students specializing in AI research and applying it to drug safety, food safety, and healthcare. Luo has also contributed to numerous research projects and published extensively in prominent scientific journals.

Before joining BenevolentAI, Luo served as Postdoctoral Researcher in Drug Discovery Technologies at IBM and Computational Biology Scientist at NuMedii. He has also provided his expertise as Research Participant at Fudan University, National Center for Toxicological Research, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, and At-Home Laboratory Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Luo is a capable communicator and leader and has served as an Area Director in Toastmasters. He is passionate about using deep learning/machine learning, statistical analysis, network analysis, and structural modeling to identify potential targets, evaluate drug safety, reposition drugs for other uses, and provide precision medicine. Additionally, Luo has experience using chemo-informatics data, real-world evidence data, gene-expression data, and knowledge graphs to deliver groundbreaking results in the healthcare industry.
