Sean White has an impressive background in the technology industry. He is the Chief R&D Officer at Mozilla, where he leads the global research, design, and development efforts for upcoming products and technologies. Additionally, he served as Chair of the Tech for Global Good Executive Committee and Tech Awards Judge at The Tech Museum of Innovation.

Before joining Mozilla, Dr. White founded and built the Interaction Ecologies Group at Nokia, where he led multiple innovative efforts in new mobile forms and experiences in areas such as wearables, Internet of Things, and mixed reality. He also cofounded BrightSky Labs, a company that provided creative tools enabled by machine learning. Prior to that, he held CTO roles at NeoCarta Ventures, Lycos, Inc., and WhoWhere?.

Dr. White's technical expertise has led him to hold advisory board positions with SeQster, Perch, Virtual Workflow, NY Sun Works, Environmental Defense, Evite, Gravity, and OpenVoice. He is a 2009 Tech Award Laureate for his work on computer vision-based mobile botanical species identification. Additionally, he taught CS377m: HCI Issues in Mixed & Augmented Reality in the Stanford CS Department and has lectured and taught at Columbia University. Furthermore, he mentored for Engineers without Borders and facilitated for the Clinton Global Initiative.

Sean White completed his education at Stanford University and Columbia University, earning a B.S. and M.S. in CS from Stanford University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in CS from Columbia University.
